BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan College/Premier Bank Student-Athletes of the Week for April 10 – April 16 are baseball player Chris Metrick and lacrosse player Kim Lubic.

Lubic is a 5-6 junior midfielder from Pittsburgh, Pa.

She helped Wesleyan to a pair of victories last week, including an MEC road win over the University of Charleston.

She forced five turnovers and seven ground balls in two games for the Bobcats, and also came up with four draw controls in a win over Charleston.

Lubic leads the team in caused turnovers with 19 and is second on the squad in draw controls with 30.

The lacrosse team will return to action this Sunday in their home finale against Shepherd.

Metrick is a 5-9 junior from Beckley, W. Va.

He made four appearances in relief last week going 2-0 with a save.

Metrick pitched three innings in relief to earn the victory over Charleston on Monday, then pitched the final inning against Concord to get the save on Friday.

He helped the Bobcats split the series with the Mountain Lions by earning the win after pitching the final two innings. For the week he struck out eight in 7.1 innings and gave up just two earned runs.

For the season, he is 4-0 with five saves and a 2.59 ERA.

The baseball team will play again Tuesday when they host Salem International in a doubleheader.
