Potter was recently married to former volleyball star Maria Brolawsky Potter a '09 graduate from Wesleyan, who both currently reside in Buckhannon, WV. Potter has been with Wesleyan since 2005.

Potter enjoys things such as, fishing, hunting, woodwork, and is an active member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. He has published many papers related to athletic training and emergency medical service.
