Wheeling, W.Va. -- The Wesleyan Baseball team was back in action after being snowed out Friday at Chambers I-470 Field in Wheeling, W.Va. as they took on the host Wheeling-Jesuit Cardinals in double-header MEC action. The Cardinals swept the Bobcats in two close games, 5-3 and 3-2.
In the first contest the Bobcats only managed four hits but scored an optimal three runs in doing so due to four Cardinal errors. Unfortunately the home team would manage three runs in the bottom of the sixth after being down 3-2 to the Bobcats in a score that would ultimately end the game, 5-3. Chris Denno (1-2) would suffer the loss for the 'Cats while Andrew D'Angelo scrapped the lone RBI.
Wesleyan's bats would add a little more life in the second game tallying six hits but a close pitchers dual that pinned the loss on Seth Corwin (0-4) the Bobcats managed only two runs. Center fielder, Jason Koon, would have three of the hits for Wesleyan as well as score one of the runs. Each team made only one error, respectively, but the two-run bottom of the fifth for the Cardinals would give them a 3-1 lead they would cling too only allowing one more Bobcat to cross the plate in the top of the seventh.
The 'Cats and Cards will look to re-do Friday's double-header Sunday afternoon. First pitch scheduled for 1:00pm.
