Urbana, Ohio -- The Bobcat Baseball team found delight in the warm weather Tuesday afternoon as they headed to Urbana, Ohio for a make-up double-header, that would count as non-conference games due to MEC regulations, against the Urbana Blue Knights. Wesleyan would win both games, 15-8 and 6-5, respectively to improve to 5-11 in the early 2014 campaign.
In game one, the Wesleyan bats would ignite for 15 hits as the Bobcats scored in every inning but the fourth to claim the 15-8 victory. The Blue Knights would accumulate four errors in the game but several multi-hit, multi-RBI slayers for the Bobcats would be the difference. Robert Paterson and Corey Lynn would combine to go 7-9 with three homeruns and seven RBI's. Paterson would drop two bombs while Lynn collected four of the RBI's in helping James Gainer earn the victory as he went 3 & 2/3 innings of work.
The Bobcats would also pull out the second game in a much slicker, 6-5, fashion. This time, the Bobcats would be out hit, 11-8, but Wesleyan managed an optimal six runs doing so as Michael Logsdon and Michael Bolla both had two RBI's in helping Daniel Powell collect the win in a relief effort of 2 & 2/3 innings of work. The Blue Knights would clean up the defense but the lone error of the game would belong to Urbana, ulitmately letting another Bobcat cross the plate to be the difference. Christopher Hall would pick up the two inning save for the 'Cats to lock up the victory despite Urbana's best effort in a bottom of the 7th rally that left the Blue Knights one run short.
The Bobcats will return home Saturday and Sunday as they host Fairmont State in MEC double-header action. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm
