BRIDGEPORT -- West Virginia Wesleyan's Michael Logsdon has been named Mountain East Conference Player of the Week, while Notre Dame's Zack LaRocca has earned Pitcher of the Week recognition.
Logsdon, a junior from Bridgeport, W.Va., hit .800 (16-for-20) to help lead the Bobcats to a 6-0 week. Five of his 16 hits went for extra bases, and he also scored 10 runs and drove in eight.
LaRocca, a sophomore from Pittsburgh, Pa., becomes the third NDC pitcher to earn weekly honors in as many weeks after tossing a complete-game shutout against Wheeling Jesuit. He scattered seven hits and struck out four and did not allow any walks in seven innings.
Other Top Performances: Josh Kiser (WVSU) hit .381 as the Yellow Jackets went 6-0 ... Matt Wilson (SU) hit .631 (12-for-19) while driving in 11 and scoring seven runs ... Jerrod Groves (CU) batted .500 (12-for-24) with 10 RBI and eight runs scored ... T.J. Lett (NDC) went 4-for-7 (.571) and walked eight times ... Patrick Ammar (WJU) went 7-for-12 (.584) and scored four times, including the game-winner against Notre Dame, last week.
Other Top Pitching Performances: Dillon Wagman (WVWC) went 1-0 with a save in three appearances ... Nate Werner (CU) allowed just one run on seven hits in a complete-game performance against Charleston ... Sam Crater (SU) scattered four hits and just one run in five innings of work against Glenville State ... Justin Fritts (WJU) gave up six hits and struck out five in a complete-game victory against Notre Dame.
