Logsdon, Metz Named to All-MEC Baseball First-Team

BRIDGEPORT -- Shepherd University's Matt Wilson is the 2015 Mountain East Conference Player of the Year, while teammate Sam Crater is the league's Pitcher of the Year. Concord outfielder Andy Szamski is the conference's Freshman of the Year, and Glenville State's Jimmy Mullins was tabbed as the Coach of the Year.

Wilson, a senior outfielder from Baltimore, Md., paced the Rams on offense hitting .443 and leading the conference in home runs (10), runs scored (63) and total bases (112), and ranking third in the conference in RBI (47).

Crater, a junior from Dillsburg, Pa., served as the ace for Shepherd going 10-2 with a 1.75 ERA. Crater led the league in innings pitched (72.0) and strikeouts (73).

Szamski, an outfielder from Glen Arm, Md., drove in a conference-best 68 runs in his freshman campaign for the Mountain Lions. He hit .370 on the year with 15 doubles and six triples to go with three home runs.

After posting nine wins in his first season as head coach at Glenville State, Mullins doubled his win total in year two with 18. The Pioneers played their best down the stretch winning 13 of 20, including a nine-game winning streak, and were in contention for the MEC Tournament until the final day.

The All-MEC teams and awards are selected by a vote of the league's coaches.
