Coach Gitzen joins the Wesleyan Bobcats for his second season in 2012. Coach Gitzen is currently working on his Masters of Education degree in the field of Special Education.

Coach Gitzen started his college baseball career in the spring of 2004 at Frostburg State University where he played four seasons as the bobcats starting shortstop/third basemen. In the spring of 2005 Coach Gitzen earned AMCC Second Team honors as a sophomore at shortstop. In the spring of 2007 Coach Gitzen’s senior year, he earned AMCC First Team honors as a third baseman, Mid-Atlantic All-Region NCAA Div. III ABCA All-Star Team First team honors, ECAC Southern Player of the Week and AMCC Player of the Week. Coach Gitzen currently is in the Top 5 for games played (46), at-bats (167) , runs scored (52), extra base hits (26), hits (64), and total bases (111) for FSU single season records. Coach Gitzen also holds several Top 10 career records finishes in games played (141), at bats (474), runs scored (123), hit by pitches (26), hits (159), Doubles (35), extra base hits (53), total bases (242), and sacrifice flies (9).
