URBANA, Ohio – Senior tailback Michael Anderson made history today for the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats in their Mountain East Conference game with the Urbana Blue Knights.
Anderson put himself into the Wesleyan records books today with a 187 rushing yard performance.
He became Wesleyan's all-time Wesleyan career rusher, breaking the old mark of 3,180 yards set by Duriel Cobb in 2002.
Following the Urbana game, he now has the new record at 3,240 yards.
"Michael Anderson is certainly a special player," remarked Wesleyan head coach Del Smith. "What struck me the most about him breaking the record was how happy his teammates were for him. I think it speaks to the kind of teammate he is. Also, congrats to our offensive line coach Tony Testa and our offensive line for paving the way."
Anderson also went over the 1,000-yard mark in today's game for the 2016 season.
He has amassed 1,073 yards on 197 attempts and scored eight touchdowns.
Out of the backfield, he leads the team in receptions with 21 for 140 yards and one score.
Anderson will continue to add to his already record-breaking numbers this Thursday when the Bobcats go on the road to face East Tennessee State.
Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
