Football Team Invites Local Students to Celebrate Halloween

BUCKHANNON -- The West Virginia Wesleyan College Bobcat football team is inviting Upshur County elementary students to support the team during their 1 p.m. home match-up against the University of Charleston this Saturday, Oct. 29.

The football team is encouraging all students to wear a Halloween costume in lieu of free admission.

The Bobcat football team has built a rapport with elementary school students in the county through their "Get Up and Get Moving" program, part of the community service effort enforced by head coach Del Smith.

Under the guidance of Tony Testa, assistant football coach and director of operations, the team has logged in over 400 community service hours with a 100% participation rate as of end of last season.

"A large part of our overall mission when we took over this program was to continue to engage and serve our community," stated Smith. "What better way to have the elementary school students visit Wesleyan than during a football game around Halloween, dressed in full costume?"
