Anderson Named to D2Football.com All-America Team

BUCKHANNON – The post season-awards are still coming in for West Virginia Wesleyan senior tailback Michael Anderson.

Anderson was just named to the 2016 D2Football.com All-America Team.

He was named to the Honorable Mention List.

Anderson, a native of Elkridge, Md. rushed for 1,417 yards and 12 touchdowns during the 2016 season.

He also led Wesleyan in receptions this past year with 40 and had 299 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

He led the MEC in rushing and was sixth in the country in rushing yards.

Anderson had seven 100-yard rushing games on the year, including a league-best 237 against Concord in September.

Grand Valley's Marty Carter and Lane's Whitney Richardson highlight the 2016 D2Football.com All-America Team.

Carter earned the Offensive Player of the Year award after rushing for 1,908 yards and 20 touchdowns.  He averaged 7.5 yards per carry over the course of the season.

Richardson earned the Defensive Player of the Year award after recording 75 tackles.  He had 32.5 tackles for loss, including 17.5 sacks and five quarterback hurries.

Edinboro coach Justin Lustig took a winless Edinboro team and finished the season 9-2.  If not for the earned-access rule, his squad would have qualified for the playoffs.  He tied the school record for wins in a season.

National Champion Northwest Missouri and SR1 Champion Shepherd lead the way with five players each selected to the 100-member team.  Minnesota Duluth had four selections while Runner-Up North Alabama, Grand Valley, and Sioux Falls garnered three selections.

The D2Football.com All-America team is selected by input from the D2Football.com staff, sports information directors, coaches, and scouts from across the country.
