Micahel Lorentz

Title: Assistant Linebacker Coach/Assistant Track Coach

Michael Lorentz joined the West Virginia Wesleyan coaching staff in 2011 and will be coaching linebackers. Lorentz last coached in 2002 and 2003 as a secondary coach at the University of Central Florida. Prior to UCF Lorentz spent two seasons as an assistant at Lake Mary High. He spent 1998-2000 coaching freshman at Lewis County. Lorentz coached the secondary at Deland High in 1997-98. Lorentz served as the defensive coordinator at Mt. Dora in 1996. From 1993-96 Lorentz was at Deltona High. From 1987-91 served as an assistant at Elkins High and from 1984-87 was an assistant at Buckhannon-Upshur.

Lorentz earned a Bachelor’s degree in physical education from Fairmont State in 1972 where he was a varsity letterwinner in three sports. Lorentz earned two master’s degrees from West Virginia University in physical education and specific learning disability.

Prior to coaching, Lorentz spent 8 seasons playing amateur football. From 1973-79 was a member of the Wood County Raiders. In 1980 and 81 played semi-pro with the West Virginia Rockets and won the semi-pro championship in 1980. Lorentz returned to the Raiders fro three more seasons from 1982-84.
