Wesleyan Battles Past UPJ, 86-69
BUCKHANNON, W.Va.—Four Bobcats register double figures to lead Wesleyan past Pitt-Johnstown, 86-69 on Monday for senior night.
Raymont McElroy (21),Colby Wohlleb (20), Kelsey Williams (16) and Reggie Chambers (14) notched double-digits for the Bobcats.
Patrick Grubbs (23), Nick Novak (22) and Jordan Miller (11) tallied double figures for Pitt-Johnstown. Grubbs also grabbed 11 boards to notch a double-double on the evening.
In a back-and-forth battle, West Virginia Wesleyan was able to grab a 40-35 lead in the first half. Wohlleb was the key contributor during the first 20 minutes, draining three shots from beyond the arc. Grubbs and Novak combined for 26 points in the half to keep UPJ close.
Wesleyan opened half number two with a 12-2 sprint to extend their advantage to 52-37; Williams contributed six of the 12 points. Johnstown was unable to recover as Wesleyan went on to 86-69 win.
With the win, Wesleyan improves to 18-7 on the season and 14-7 in conference play. The men return to action at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Fairmont State.
