Wesleyan Rally Falls Short at Seton Hill, 66-63

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Seton Hill ousted Wesleyan from the WVIAC Tournament with a 66-63 victory on Tuesday evening.

Ray Warren led Wesleyan with season-highs in both points (24) and rebounds (10), while Kelsey Williams managed his 17th double-double with 23 points and a season-best 18 rebounds. Warren also finished with a game-high six assists. The remainder of the Bobcats managed just 16 points.

Nate Perry and David Windsor led the Griffins with 15 points apiece. Kameron Taylor added 10 points.

Wesleyan held a 41-31 advantage on the glass, including 11 offensive rebounds which led to 13 second chance points. SHU shot 50 percent (27-of-54) from the field in the game, while WVWC hit on 41 percent (26-of-64).

The first half was a battle, with neither team leading by more than six points. Seton Hill went to the locker room with a 32-27 advantage after Windsor beat the buzzer with a three.

Wesleyan pulled to within one at 41-40, before the Griffins went on an 18-4 tear to take their largest lead of the night at 59-44. Perry was responsible for 10 of the 18 points. The Bobcats stormed back, scoring 19 of the next 26 points, thanks to Seton Hill missing two one-and-one opportunities and a two-shot chance. Williams and Noah Cottrill scored 17 of the 19 points. The Bobcats got the ball with six seconds left trailing 66-63, but were unable to get a shot off as Seton Hill escaped.

Tuesday's loss brings to a close the outstanding careers of Caleb Ashley, Zach Cooke and Williams in the orange and black. Wesleyan finished the campaign 12-15 overall.
