T.J. Thompson Takes MEC Player of the Week Award

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- West Virginia Wesleyan's T.J. Thompson has been named the Mountain East Conference Player of the Week after helping the Bobcats pick up a pair of wins last week.

Thompson, a senior guard from Kingwood, W.Va., averaged 24.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists on the week as WVWC improved to 11-7 overall and 6-4 in conference play. Thompson's 28 points was critical in the Bobcats picking up a road win over Wheeling Jesuit, and he followed that performance up with 21 points in a home win over Urbana. Thompson shot 62 percent from the field on the week, including 56 percent from behind the three-point line, in addition to making 14-of-15 from the free throw line.

Xavier Humphrey (Charleston) averaged 22 points and four rebounds as the Golden Eagles extended their winning streak to five games ... Bo King (West Virginia State) averaged 26 points to go with three steals and three assists in two wins ... Keene Cockburn (West Liberty) led the balanced WLU attack with 14 points, six rebounds and 2.5 blocks on the week ... Lamar Mallory (Glenville State) averaged 28 points and 13.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Pioneers ... Deon Boyce (UVa-Wise) added two more double-doubles on the season averaging 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds ... Cam Shannon (Concord) averaged 18.5 points in two games for the Mountain Lions ... Casey Baker (Urbana) extended his double-double streak to five games and averaged 10.5 points and 10.0 rebounds.
