BUCKHANNON -- The West Virginia Wesleyan men's basketball team took one on the chin here today against the Lake Erie College Storm in a non-conference clash.
Lake Erie defeated Wesleyan by a 71-49 score.
Wesleyan never led in the contest and fell behind early by a 7-0 score.
A Chris Dewberry three-pointer closed the gap to four at 15-11 with 12:57 remaining, but the 'Cats wouldn't get any closer than that the rest of the first half.
Lake Erie led at the break by 11, at 37-26.
Lake Erie pulled away in the second half and led by as many as 27, at 66-39, with 4:43 remaining.
The Storm outscored Wesleyan 34-23 in the second half.
Dewberry tacked on eight points and three assists for Wesleyan.
Wesleyan shot 34.7 percent form the floor making good on 17 of their 49 chances.
Andy Bosley paced Lake Erie with 19 points and five rebounds while Michael Morris had 13 points and four rebounds.
Lake Erie shot 41.8 percent from the floor making 23 of their 55 shots.
Lake Erie improved to 3-1 on the season.
Wesleyan dropped to 1-5 overall.
The 'Cats will return to action this Thursday when they travel to Virginia-Wise for a Mountain East Conference contest.
Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
