McGrew, Stewart Named WVWC Student-Athletes of the Week For Jan. 26-Feb.1

BUCKHANNON -- The West Virginia Wesleyan College/Premier Bank Student-Athletes of the Week for Jan. 26-Feb. 1 are men's basketball player Tanner McGrew and women's basketball player Mari Stewart.

McGrew, a 6-8, 265-pound senior forward from Buckhannon, W. Va., had another big week for the Bobcats.

McGrew had two more double-doubles on the road last week. He now has a Mountain East Conference league-leading 11 double-doubles for the season.

At Concord last Thursday, he scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and then at Fairmont State Saturday, he scored 26 points and hauled in 15 rebounds.

The Bobcats will play again this Thursday at home against Charleston.

Stewart, a 6-0 freshman forward from Templeton, Calif., came up big for the Lady Bobcats during a 1-1 week.

Stewart helped the Lady 'Cats to a 57-56 win on the road at Concord with a 14-point, 11-rebound performance.

She followed that up with 21 points and four rebounds against Fairmont State.

The Lady 'Cats will host Charleston this Thursday.
