Wesleyan Falls in Regular-Season Finale to Glenville State

GLENVILLE – An 18-3 run to close the half by Glenville State was enough to turn the tide and give the Pioneers a 75-49 victory over the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats here Saturday afternoon in the Waco Center in the Mountain East Conference regular-season finale for teams.

The contest was tied at 22-22 with 6:20 left in the first half, but Wesleyan could only muster one basket in that final six minutes and fell behind by a 40-25 score at the break.

Glenville State would grow their lead to 31 points, at 68-37, with six minutes remaining.

Wesleyan outscored Glenville State by a 12-7 margin to close the game.

Tanner McGrew led the Bobcat offense with 12 points and seven rebounds while Austin Shell (pictured) tallied 11 points and yanked down seven rebounds.

Chris Dewberry scored seven points while Anthony Richards came off the bench to score six.

The loss gave the 'Cats an 11-17 overall record and a 9-13 record in the MEC.

The Bobcats finished ninth in the league.

They will open the MEC Tournament Tuesday making the trip to Shepherd to face the eighth-seeded Rams.

Tip-off is yet to be determined.
