PHILIPPI -- West Virginia Wesleyan's Men went into halftime Tueday night with a 32-26 lead at Alderson-Broaddus, but the Battlers scored the first 13 points of the second half to gain control of the contest. They would go on to claim a 68-59 non-conference win.
Coach Jack Meriwether's Bobcats would battle back for much of the second half, narrowing the margin to four 59-55 with only three minutes remaining. The Battlers however, would close the game with a 9-4 run to seal the victory.
Mike Davis led the Battlers with 21 points, while teammate Malik Bocook delivered a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
The duo of Kevin Kangni and Fred Brondsted led Wesleyan with 12 points each, with Dusan Vicentic recording 11. The Bobcat defense was strong, forcing 24 Battler turnovers, but A-B had a decisive edge on the boards, outrebounding Wesleyan 42-23, including nine offensive rebounds.
Wesleyan falls to 1-10 with the loss. Alderson-Broaddus improves to 7-2.
Coach Meriwether's squad is back in action December 18, traveling to Ashland (Ohio) for another non-conference game.
