ASHLAND — Wesleyan's Men took on the Ashland Eagles Monday night in a non-conference matchup. After a defensive struggle in the first half, the Eagles proved too strong and earned their 4th straight victory with a 76-40 win over the Bobcats.
Ashland started the game on a 5-0 run, with 4 of the points coming from Drew Noble. The Bobcats would battle back to tie the game 7-7 with a Aaron Ariri dunk. As the half unfolded, both teams would prove to struggle from the field. The Bobcats shot 25% while the Eagles failed to shoot much better at 33%. Ashland took a 28-16 lead into the half and would only build upon it.
Noble sparked the home crowd with a dunk early on in the half to start a 10-0 run. Wesleyan couldn't get much offense going in the second half and found many key players in foul trouble. Ashland would turn their shooting struggles around in the second half.
Ashland's Wendall Davis shot 9-of-16 with six of his makes coming from beyond the arc. Davis would finish with 26 points and eight rebounds. Noble would haul in 15 rebounds for the Eagles to go along with his 12 points.
Dusan Vicentic lead the Bobcats with eight points while also adding four rebounds. Ariri brought down six rebounds in limited game time due to foul trouble.
Wesleyan drops to 1-11 overall after the loss. Ashland improves to 9-3.
The Bobcats travel to take the court again Dec. 27th against Division I opponent James Madison.
