DANIELS -- West Virginia Wesleyan's Bobcat golfers showed some improvement on day two of the Glade Springs Intercollegiate Tournament Tuesday, closing the event in 16th place overall and in a tight pack of teams.
Teams played 36 holes of golf on Monday and 18 holes of golf on Tuesday.
Nick West was the top Bobcat scorer, posting a final round of 80 for a tournament final tally of 243 (83-80-80). He placed 52nd overall in the deep field.
"We had several guys play much better in their final rounds, and doing some positive things in different phases of their game," head coach James Huber said. "We were working to get some degree of consistency, but the course was very dry and hard which made things very difficult...the course was in great shape overall, it was just very hard. We had some guys who made those adjustments and put in some strong rounds for us on Tuesday."
Eight different Mountain East Conference teams played in the tournament, including event champion West Liberty.
Connor Sheehan of Millersville was the individual champion with a score of 222. Individual runner-up Chris Kupnieski of Mercyhurst had the best individual round with a 71 on the first 18.
Wesleyan's men are back in action on September 25 at the Mercyhurst Fall Invitational.
