'Cats A Strong Fifth After Day One at MEC Spring Championship

CHARLESTON – The West Virginia Wesleyan men's golf team is off to a solid start after day one of competition in the two-day MEC Spring Championships at the Edgewood Country Club.

The Bobcats check in at fifth place among 12 teams with a first-day total of 312.

Charleston entered the clubhouse on day one as the leader with a team total of 295.

West Liberty is second with a 296 while Shepherd is third with a 297 and Wheeling Jesuit is in fourth with a 309.

Nicholas Casingal and James Snavely both check in tied for 16th as they fired a 77.

Nick West and John Huggins checked in just two strokes back as they are both tied for 25th after they each shot a 79.

Ryan Holcomb rounds out the Wesleyan line up placing in 41st after shooting an 84.

Viktor Pustwo of Charleston has the day one lead with a 68 while Shepherd's Ryan Crabtree and Erik Williams are tied for second with 72s.

All 12 teams will wrap up play in the MEC Spring Championships tomorrow.
