BRIDGEPORT -- West Virginia Wesleyan's Juwon Akintunde is the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while the University of Charleston's Armando Tikvic is the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Akintunde, a senior from London, Englad, had five goals in three games last week as the Bobcats went 2-0-1. After notching scores against Shippensburg and Urbana, Akintunde capped his week with a three-goal effort in a win Shepherd. He now has six goals on the season.
Tikvic, a freshman from Hamburg, Germany, was a member of the back line that helped UC post a pair of shutouts last week. The Golden Eagles defense allowed just 11 shots in two games with only five landing on target. Tikvic stepped forward to take a corner and assisted on a goal in a win over Tiffin.
Offense: Patrick Guier (UC) scored two goals along with an assist in a pair of 3-0 wins this week…Leonardo Paiva (NDC) recorded a hat trick in a 6-1 win over California University of Pennsylvania…Thibaut Bourrier (UU) had five points in Urbana's 3-2 OT win over Gannon with four goals and an assist on the golden goal.
Defense: Paolo Termine (NDC) scored the first goal of the game in a 6-1 win over California University of Pennsylvania…Alessandro Aremenia (WVWC) posted two shutouts in a 2-0-1 week for the Bobcats.
