Tennis 'Cats Fall to Nationally Ranked Bluefield State

BLUEFIELD -- The West Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team were defeated by host Bluefield State here Monday in a dual tennis match.

The Big Blue, ranked No. 41 nationally and No. 1 in the Atlantic Region, rolled by the 'Cats by an 8-1 score.

The Bobcats had a win at No. 3 doubles but could not muster better than one set in singles on the day, as they saw their record fall to 15-4 overall.

Earning the doubles win were Jacobo Rendon and Andre Fernandes beating Alexander Rudenco and Platon Gud.

The men will return to the court this weekend wrapping up their regular season.

They will visit Concord in a Mountain East Conference contest Friday at 4 p.m., then face Shaw in a non-conference outing at Bluefield State Saturday at 10 a.m. and then will wrap up the regular season Sunday with a conference outing at Charleston that will start at 1 p.m.
