Tennis Bobcats Fall to Division I Longwood

WHITE SULPHER SPRINGS – The West Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team moved a step in competition on Friday as they battled Division I Longwood at the historic Greenbrier Resort in a non-conference match-up.

Wesleyan lost their first encounter of the season as they dropped a 9-0 decision.

"We pretty much got schooled by Longwood," remarked head coach Marc Walters. "Longwood was simply better than us. They were one step and one shot ahead of us all day and we were on our heels in almost every match.

"Most of our team made a push here or there, but it was too little too late across the board"

Wesleyan, ranked seventh in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional rankings, fell to 2-1 on the season.

Longwood improved to 4-1 overall.

Wesleyan will be back in action Sunday when they face Southern Indiana at 8 a.m.

They match will be played in Morgantown.
