School Records Fall at Charlotte 49er Invitational

BUCKHANNON -- West Virginia Wesleyan's track and field teams battled a large field last weekend in the prestigious Charlotte 49er Invitational.

A pair of school records fell, and there were two NCAA Provisional marks hit.

Tavaris Anderson hit the NCAA mark in the triple jump with a leap of 14.67, eclipsing his own school mark in that event.

He was matched by teammate Lauren Cvechko who destroyed her own school mark in the heptathlon with 4749 points (her old mark was 4493). Her score was also an NCAA mark.

Several other Bobcats placed in the meet.

Jordan Lynn complemented Cvechko's record setting day with a fourth place in the heptathlon (3665 points).

Adding to the strong multi performance was freshman Adam Fox, who placed fifth in the decathlon with 5497 points.

Wesleyan's throwers had a banner day.

The javelin duo of Katie Demi (sixth in 39.82) and Rachel Czulewicz (seventh in 39.81) led the way.

The discus duo of Aiyana Kachmarek and Dylon Rippeto each made finals and placed eighth.

Several personal bests hit in the distance races, led by Matt Dearth who broke the 15-minute barrier with a 14:54 race in the 5000.

Wesleyan is back in action this week at home, hosting the Bobcat Classic this Thursday and Friday.
