XC Bobcats Run Third at Bethany Invitational

BETHANYMatt Dearth (pictured) placed sixth to lead the West Virginia Wesleyan cross country men's team in their season opener at the Bethany Invitational Saturday morning.

Dearth completed the course with a time of 27:46.

Overall, Wesleyan finished third among 17 teams on an overcast and rainy day on a muddy course.

Three other Bobcat runners placed in the top 20.

Colin Wallace was 13th (28:10), Sean Snyder was 15th (28:12) and Brettley Harris was 19th (28.30).

The other Bobcats scoring were Austin Jarrell in 21st (28:43), Marcus Black in 23rd (28:54) and Michael Duez in 46th (29:56).

Washington & Jefferson's Theodore Kioussis won the individual title with a time of 26:51.

Point Park won the team title with 32 points while Washington & Jefferson was second with 71 and Wesleyan was third with 74 points.

The Bobcats of head coach Jesse Skiles will return to action Saturday, Sept. 26 when they race at Lock Haven (Pa.).
