LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan's cross country teams traveled to the Greater Louisville Classic today, competing in a large event that included over 120 colleges and universities.
Coach Jesse Skiles' Bobcats ran in the middle "Blue" race. The women placed fifth out of 15 Division II teams in that race, tallying 153 points.
Wesleyan's men placed 10th out of 14 teams with 250 points.
Sydney Pineault led the Wesleyan women, placing second out of 119 D-II runners in the field, covering the 5000-meter layout at Louisville's Sawyer Park in 18:03.
She was followed by teammate Joie Johnston (20th, 19:13), Madison Frame (26th, 19:22), Michaela Peterson (43rd, 19:43), Zoey Vilasuso (62nd, 20:08), Rachael Englund (63rd, 20:08) and Brooke Phelps (102nd, 21:35).
Matt Dearth led the Wesleyan men, placing eighth out of 103 D-II runners, covering the 8000-meter course in 25:40.
Wesleyan returns to action October 10, hosting four teams in the V.A. Hospital Challenge in Clarksburg.
