SALEM, (Va.) – West Virginia Wesleyan's softball team had two big wins as they closed out play in the Salem (Va.) Tournament today.
The Lady Bobcats downed Bloomsburg, 5-4, and defeated Chowan, 9-3.
The Sunday sweep left Wesleyan with an 18-2 record.
Bloomsburg hit a grand slam home run in the top of the third to take a 4-2 lead.
Anna Eggleston had a one-run single in the bottom of the fifth that scored Pogue to make it a 4-3 contest.
A Morgan Bruce two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning gave Wesleyan the lead for good.
Wesleyan had four hits in the contest with Pogue, Eggleston, Waddell and Bruce each getting one.
Sayaka Foley improved her record to 5-1.
She threw six innings and gave up four earned runs on eight hits while striking out eight.
Hannah Vet earned the save pitching a scoreless seventh inning.

Wesleyan scored three runs in their first at-bat on a three-run home run by Olivia Gore.
A Sara Scoone one-run single gave Wesleyan a 4-0 advantage in the top of the second.
A pair of solo home runs by Chowan closed it to a 4-2 game.
Bruce hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to increase the Wesleyan lead to 7-2.
In the top of the seventh, Carly Gregory had a one-run single Scoone scored a run on a ground out to make it a 9-2 Wesleyan lead.
Chowan wrapped up the scoring with a run in the bottom of the seventh.
Vet picked up the win for Wesleyan.
Wesleyan will play again Wednesday when they visit Fairmont State at 2 p.m. for a doubleheader as they open up Mountain East Conference play.
