Honce Earns Third-Team CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors

AUSTIN, Texas – Senior pitcher Carley Tysinger of Catawba College headlines the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Softball team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Tysinger has been selected as the recipient of the Academic All-America® of the Year award for Division II softball.

A chemistry major, Tysinger has a 3.72 G.P.A., she is now a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America® selection after earning third team honors a year ago.

A native of Lexington, North Carolina, she led Catawba to a 39-16 record and a berth in the NCAA Southeast Regional as the fourth seed. 

West Virginia Wesleyan's Rebekah Honce garnered Third Team Academic All-America honors.

The senior shortstop from Bridgeport, W. Va. hit .316 with five home runs and 43 RBIs.

A biology major, Honce compiled a .398 G.P.A.

She helped the Lady 'Cats to a 54-11 record and an appearance in the NCAA Division II Super Atlantic Regional.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2015-16 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.
