Vet and Bruce Named to FPN Preseason All-American List

BUCKHANNON –  Fast Pitch News (FPN) announced their 2017 NCAA D-II Preseason All-American Softball Team today and two West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats appeared on the squad.

Junior pitcher Hannah Vet (right) was named to the FPN Second Team while junior catcher Morgan Bruce (left) was selected for Honorable Mention honors.

Last season as a sophomore, Vet went 25-4 with one save while compiling a 0.84 earned-run average.

She was named the NCAA Division II CCA's Atlantic Regional Pitcher of the Year, named to the CCA All-First Team, NFCA All-First Team and was selected to the MEC All-First Team.

Vet, a native of Naples, Fla. led or was near the top of several pitching categories last year in the Mountain East Conference.

During her sophomore season, Bruce batted .349 and hit a team-high 14 home runs while knocking in 53 runs.

The native of Lynchburg, Va. was also named to the CCA All-First Team, selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team and was named to the MEC All-First Team.

Both student-athletes helped lead Wesleyan to a 54-11 record as the Lady Bobcats finished ranked 15th in the nation in 2016.
