CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- West Virginia Wesleyan's track teams posted 22 personal best marks over the weekend at the Charlotte 49er Classic. Three different Bobcats connected on NCAA Provisional qualifying marks in the process.
Zach Shreve placed third in the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.67. The sophomore is currently ranked 12th in the nation in this event. Senior Eric Myers placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 15.93, but it was his throw of 49.24 in the discus that placed him nationally. Myers is currently ranked 10th in the nation in that event. Senior Ashli Knotts placed second in the meet in the javelin with a throw of 42.33. That national qualifying throw has her ranked seventh in the nation.
Knotts also placed fifth in the heptathlon with 4375 points. Other Wesleyan athletes that placed in the 29-team meet included Cuylor Edgell in the decathlon (fifth with 5631 points), and Luke Finley who placed sixth in the steeplechase in 9:58.
The 49er Classic also included WVIAC rivals Wheeling Jesuit, Seton Hill, and Alderson-Broaddus. Wesleyan is back in action this Saturday at Glenville.
