Wesleyan Dominates Lone Home Meet

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Wesleyan men's and women's track teams totaled 16 first place finishes to dominate the competition at Ross Field on Friday.

The women finished with 214 points, while Charleston finished second with 100 points. Ashli Knotts claimed victories in the 800 meter run (2.21.03) and the javelin throw (40.57 meters). Rachael Hullett notched a first place finish in the 1500 meter run (5:03.99). Christine Azevedo won the 5000 meter run (20:26.19). Vicki Crise claimed the top spot in the 100 (15.04) and the 400 meter hurdles (67.83).  The women's 4x400 relay team was also victorious after a 4:17.49 run. Jazmin Torres leaped 9.75 meters to claim top honors in the triple jump. Katie Woofer threw the discus 34.2 meters to earn a first place finish.

The men totaled 184 points. Zach Shreve won the 200 meter dash (23.37) and the 110 hurdles (15.56). Luke Finley took the top spot in the 800 meter run (2:06.59). Nathan Whiticare topped the field in the 1500 meter run (4:17.55). Eric Myers claimed titles in the discus (49.34 meters), hammer throw (43.03 meters) and the shot put (15.10).

Wesleyan returns to the field on April 29 in the WVIAC Multi Championships at Glenville State.
