Geneva, Ohio - This weekend the West Virginia Wesleyan track team broke six school records, and captured three event victories at the SPIRE Institute's D-II Challenge.
Five women's records fell, as the Bobcat women made a major move in the MEC. Freshman Teal Jackson broke two school records; the 60 (7.84) and the 200 (25.49). Lauren Cvechko broke the pentathlon record in 3059 points, while the Distance Medley relay team of Karena Moran, Cassidy McCullough, Ali Johnson, and Naomi Underwood broke that WVWC mark by 31 seconds with a 12:21.28. Freshman Caysie Irving not only broke her own school record in the pole vault with a 10'8" jump, but also captured victory in the meet.
Junior Zach Shreve broke the men's 60-hurdle record with an 8.27 performance and a meet victory. Freshman Brandon Franklin captured the long jump title with a jump of 22'2".
The Wesleyan's teams are back in action in two weeks.
