Wesleyan Fairs Well at MEC's

Buckhannon, W.Va. -- Wesleyan's Amber Stewart captured the inaugural Mountain East Conference Heptathlon Championship on Sunday. The sophomore battled runner-up Julia Novotny of Wheeling Jesuit throughout the two-day event, scoring a total of 4251 points to Novotny's 4170.

Wesleyan's Makayla Clegg finished fifth in the event, while Madison Cunningham placed sixth. The Bobcats now enter next week's MEC Championships with 17 points on the board.
On the men's side, the Wesleyan trio of junior Emerson Gagnon, sophomore Alan Crise, and freshman Ryan Gregory engineered a 2-3-5 finish in the Decathlon Championships. Gagnon's 5995 points came up just short of Wheeling Jesuit's Anthony Phillips who captured the title with 6071 points.
Crise placed third with 5799 points, while Gregory was fifth with 5605 points. 
Wesleyan returns to action this weekend at the Mountain East Conference Track and Field Championships. The meet is Friday and Saturday back at Glenville.
