Grant Burton was a stand-out decathlete at Wesleyan. Burton placed second in the decathlon at the WVIAC meet in 2009 and was the team captain for the WVIAC championship men's team the same year. He also competed in basketball during his Wesleyan career.

Burton is entering his third year as an assistant coach for multi athletes and jumpers. He has coached athletes to being nationally ranked in the decathlon and heptathlon, including Ricky Kump's All-American honors in 2010.
