Jesse Skiles has led his track and cross country teams to a prestigious 50 conference titles, a WVIAC record for all sports. Five titles were won during his tenure at Glenville State College, the other 45 since his arrival at Wesleyan in 1992. He is the only coach to earn four WVIAC titles in a single athletic season on three different occasions (1995-96, 2008-09, 2009-10).
Along with the championships, Skiles has collected 42 Coach of
the Year awards, the most recent being for the 2010 women's track.
The Lady Bobcats track team has won 18 of the last 21 WVIAC
titles.
Skiles is a former news and sports writer for the Clarksburg
Exponent-Telegram where he worked for 15 years. He is renowned as a
local author and historian. Skiles has published eight statistical
histories on West Virginia sports, and in 2005 he published his
first book, Mountaineer
Dreams. He has two children, Micki Jo, 15 and Jesse Jr., 12.
Coach Skiles resides and operates a farm in Walkersville, WV.
