Kaufman Powers Wesleyan Past Fairmont State, 61-55
BUCKHANNON, W.Va— Jamie Kaufman's double-double (25 points, 16 rebounds) leads the Lady Bobcats to a victory over the Falcons on Monday night.
West Virginia Wesleyan raced out to a 37-16 lead in the opening half, Kaufman scored 14 of the 37 points. The Lady Falcons struggled from the field in the first half, hitting on just 5-of-29 attempts from the field and committing 13 turnovers. The Lady Bobcats dominated the glass by a 27-18 margin.
The Lady Bobcats had two scorers tally double figures; Lydia Bridenbaugh netted 12 points.
Scoring in double digits for the Lady Falcons was Kaitlin Snyder who ended the night with 32 points.
Fairmont State got back in the game with a 17-2 run, trimming the gap to 54-46. Snyder's five scores from beyond the arc in the second half were not enough to boost them past WVWC; the Lady 'Cats protected a six point lead in the final seconds to claim a 61-55 victory.
Wesleyan improves to 10-5 on the year and 7-4 in conference play. The team returns to action in the Rockefeller Center on Thursday, January 26, at 5:30 p.m.
