Davis & Elkins Comes to Buckhannon

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins makes the 30 minute drive west down route 33 to battle West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday.

The Wesleyan women have won three of their last four contests, entering Saturday's meeting with an overall record of 11-5 and are 8-3 in conference play. The Lady Bobcats rallied from a 14-point deficit in the second half to claim a 72-61 win over Alderson-Broaddus on Thursday. Wesleyan is led by the dynamic senior duo of Lydia Bridenbaugh (22.9 ppg) and Jamie Kaufman (20.1 ppg and 8.4 rpg).  

The Lady Senators enter Saturday's meeting having won four of their last five games. Davis & Wlkins is coming off a 74-63 victory over West Liberty on Monday. D&E is 10-7 overall and 9-4 in the WVIAC, but are just 4-6 on the road this season. Davis & Elkins is led by Jordan Lykes 14.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest. Page Turner (14.2 ppg) and Rachel Gostomski (10.0 ppg) also add double figures. The Senators lead the conference in scoring defense surrendering 63.4 points per contest.

The Bobcat men have won four of five overall and haven't lost at home since December 11 (4-0). WVWC is 10-6 on the year and 6-6 in WVIAC play. Wesleyan is rolling after a 72-66 overtime victory against Alderson-Broaddus on Thursday. All five starters for the Bobcats reached double figures in the win. WVWC is powered by Kelsey Williams 19.3 ppg and league-best 9.9 rpg. Raymont McElroy (17.1 ppg) and Reggie Chambers (12.4 ppg) also average double figures for the Bobcats.

The D&E men enter Saturday's game in the midst of a four-game slide, and are 4-11 overall and 2-11 in league play. Davis & Elkins suffered a 108-87 setback against #2 West Liberty on Monday. Ian Pinckney powers the Senators offense with 17.9 points per game. P.J. Turner adds 14.7 points and a league-best 8.3 assists per game. Malik Tinsley (13.1) and D'Quan Lynch (11.9) complete the list of D&E scorers averaging double figures.  

Admission to Saturday's contest is $5 for adults, $3 for children 6-12, and children under six are free. Tip-off for the women's game is set for 2 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 4 p.m. .
