Casey Places Fifth at OVU Invitational

MARIETTA, OhioKatie Casey placed fifth out of 62 golfers for the West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats in the Ohio Valley University Invitational at the Marietta Country Club this past weekend.

Casey shot a 92 on Saturday and then trimmed six strokes off her game on Sunday firing an 86 for a two-day total of 178.

Sarah Adamowski from West Liberty won the individual title with a 165 (81-84) while Diana Munoz of Gannon was second with a 168 (86-82).

Wesleyan's Becca Davis placed 34th with a 201 (100-101) while Brooklyn Bailey was 38th with a 208 (109-99).

Rounding out the Wesleyan line-up was Megan Hunter in a tie for 48th with a 244 (116-128), Hannah Gurtis in 53rd with a 270 (142-128) and Keenan Moreta in 55th with a 280 (156-124).

As a team, Wesleyan finished ninth among 12 squads with an 827 (417-410).

Gannon won the team title with a 703 (354-349) while Ursuline was second with a 743 (366-377).

The women will return to action Sunday, April 17 in the MEC Spring Invitational at the Edgewood Country Club.
