Hubner Named MEC Defensive Soccer Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT -- Fairmont State's Courtney Webb is the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while West Virginia Wesleyan's Chelsea Hubner is the league's Defensive Player of the Week.

Webb, a junior from Martinsburg, W.Va., helped get the Falcons off to a 2-0 start to the season. She opened the season with a hat trick in a win over Salem International, then added another talley in a 2-1 win over Alderson Broaddus. Her goal against the Battlers was the decisive score as she converted from the spot in the 66th minute.

Hubner, a freshman from Plum, Pa., kept a clean sheet as No. 22 West Virginia Wesleyan opened the season with a 1-0 win over Slippery Rock. She faced seven shots and turned away all three that were on frame.

Offense: Abby Hoffman (SU) scored the game-winner against Concordia ... Laura Hill (WVWC) provided the decisive score in a non-conference win over Slippery Rock ... Jenny Soegaard-Anderson (WJU) put one goal away against Walsh ... Monica Tenorio (UU) put in a header against Lake Erie.
Defense: Shawna Graham (FSU) went 2-0 allowing one goal and making six saves on the week ... Kelsey Rhoderick made four saves in a half as the Rams won 1-0.
