BUCKHANNON – Emily Knight scored two goals and Amy Stewart (pictured) added two assists as the West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats cruised to a 4-0 victory over the Urbana Blue Knights today in a Mountain East Conference contest at Culpepper Stadium.
It was the sixth shutout for Wesleyan in seven games.
Stewart played a beautiful cross to Knight who scored from in front of the net about 13 yards out just five minutes into the game to give Wesleyan a 1-0 lead.
Hannah Schoolcraft played a rebound past Urbana keeper Katherine Beech in the 32nd minute to up the Wesleyan lead to 2-0.
With just two minutes gone in the second half, the Stewart-Knight combo found the back of the net again as the Lady Bobcats increased their lead to 3-0.
With less than 30 seconds remaining in the game, Shannon Shawgo cleaned up a bouncing ball in the box and scored Wesleyan's final goal.
Wesleyan owned a 12-7 advantage in shots and a 7-3 lead in shots-on-goal.
Wesleyan keeper Chelsea Hubner turned away off three shots she faced as she recorded her sixth shutout of the year.
The Lady Bobcats took five corner kicks while Urbana took two.
Wesleyan was called for seven fouls while Urbana was guilty of five.
Urbana dropped to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in the MEC.
The Lady Bobcats of head coach Patrick Holguin upped their record to 5-0-2 overall and a 4-0-2 ledger in the MEC.
The Lady Bobcats will stay at home this Sunday when they entertain the Shepherd Lady Rams.
Kick-off is slated for 1 p.m.
