Lady 'Cat Netters Drop 6-3 Decision to Shaw

BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to the Shaw (N.C.) University Bears today in non-conference action at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

The loss dropped the women's record to 10-6.

Wesleyan trailed by a 2-1 score after doubles action had completed.

Estel Fernandez and Mariona Junyer won the lone doubles match at No. 3 by a 9-8 score.

Earning the two singles wins for Wesleyan were Cecila Martinez Oliver with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles and Rebekka Heigermoser (pictured) with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 3.

The women's team is scheduled to play again Tuesday when they host Alderson Broaddus in a non-conference outing at 1 p.m.
