Six Track and Field Athletes Earn All-Region Honors

BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan men's and women's track and field programs landed six student-athletes on the 2016 U. S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2016 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field All-Region team that was announced recently.

On the women's side, the Lady Bobcats placed four on the squad – Lauren Cvechko in the heptathlon, Essence Barron in the triple jump, Sydney Pineault in the steeplechase and Amber Stewart in the heptathlon.

The Bobcats landed two on the All-Region team.

They were Tavaris Anderson in the long jump and Tyler Donati in the javelin.

Both the men's and women's teams won the 2016 Mountain East Conference championships two weeks ago.

"I am really proud of the season as a whole," remarked head coach Jesse Skiles. "These awards represent several elements of our student-athletes performing at high levels."

To be named All-Region, an athlete must either be ranked in the top-five of an individual event in the region according to final TFRRS data or be part of a top-3 relay team.
