Cvechko Named MEC Track and Field Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Concord's Justin Snyder has been named the Mountain East Conference Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, while West Virginia Wesleyan's Lauren Cvechko and Wheeling Jesuit's Kelsey Chambers share the Women's Track and Field honors, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Snyder, a junior from Princeton, W. Va., finished second overall (first collegian) in the 10,000 meters at the 49er Classic last week. His time of 32:14.19 is sixth-fastest time in the country in that event so far this season. 

Cvechko, a senior from Buckhannon, W. Va., was a winner in the heptathlon at the 49er Classic. She scored 4,749 points, which meets the NCAA provisional mark. 

Chambers, a junior from New Cumberland, W. Va., also met an NCAA provisional mark last week in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Bill Webb & Bob Davidson Spring Kickoff in High Point, N.C. She won the race and stopped the clock with a time of 10:55.85.
