Volleyball Drops First MEC Match

Athens, W.Va. -- Wesleyan lost their first MEC conference match Thursday evening against the Concord Mountain Lions.  The Bobcats were not able to overcome the first two games and ended up conceeding the match 3-1.

The first set was like many have been this season for the Bobcats, a battle.  Wesleyan would end up on the wrong side of a hard fought 25-23 loss that would carry over into the second set for 'Cats.  Wesleyan fought back early keeping the game close but a late Mountain Lion run would push the defecit out of reach pushing the series to 2-0 Concord with a 25-17 win.

However, in the third set the Bobcats would not be swept, earning a 25-20 victory drawing the series 2-1.  Continued success by the defense would help the frontline capitalize on attacking opportunities.  Aspen Weber would add some clutch serving to give the 'Cats some light but, ultimately, it would be the errors of Wesleyan that would let Concord claim the fourth set and the match, 3-1.

Wesleyaan drops to 4-1 in the MEC while Concord improves to 2-3.  Wesleyan has the weekend off and will hit the hardwood again next Tuesday as they travel to West Liberty University.  Game time is slated for 7pm.
