Buckhannon, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State Fighting Falcons swept the Bobcats 3-0 Friday evening at Rockefeller Center. With the victory the Falcons improve to 10-1 in conference play and 20-4 overall.
Wesleyan (7-15, 5-3 MEC) fought and battled closely throughout each set, however, two distinct runs in each of the three sets proved to be the difference. Fairmont's Bri Swann was the difference maker for the Falcons. Her 17 kills on the evening would lead all players and propel Fairmont State to victory.
The first set ended 25-19, second 25-21, and the third 25-22, proving the Bobcats were just inklings away in all three. Junior Erin Bond would lead the attack for the 'Cats with 10 kills. With several regular starters and players sidelined due to injuries, this allowed some lessor roles thus far the chance to step in and gain crucial experience. Freshman Stacie Baumann would chime in with eight of her own kills while Courtney Browning would add four aces on the eveningfor the Bobcats.
Wesleyan will take back to the action Tuesday as they travel to the Golden Eagles of Charleston. Game time is slated for 7pm.
