Lady 'Cats End Regular Season With Loss to Concord

ATHENS – Day two of the Mountain East Conference southern swing wasn't very kind to the West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat team Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Bobcats lost a 3-0 decision to Concord (25-20, 25-13, 25-19) in their regular-season finale. Yesterday, they dropped a 3-1 decision to UVa.-Wise.

The setback today left the Lady 'Cats with a 10-12 record overall and a 9-7 record in the MEC.

The Lady 'Cats and Concord battled on even terms in the first set with the score tied at 7-7, but Concord went on an 11-4 run to take an 18-11 lead.

Wesleyan fought back to trail by only two at 20-18, but couldn't get any closer as Concord won by five.

The Lady 'Cats never led in the second set.

Wesleyan led early in the third set by a 5-4 score but Concord ran off the next eight points to take a 12-5 lead.

The Lady 'Cats fought hard and rattled off the next six points to close the gap to 12-11, but that was as close as Wesleyan could get to the lead as Concord closed out the set by a 13-6 run.

Erin Bond and Stacie Baumann paced Wesleyan with six kills apiece.

Lindsay Caldwell and Katyln Hoge each had seven digs.

Concord improved to 18-13 overall and 7-9 in the MEC.
