BUCKHANNON – West Virginia Wesleyan College recently announced the Lady Bobcat volleyball schedule for the 2015 season.
"I am extremely excited and pumped for my first season as the head coach," remarked Ashley Ziegle. "Our schedule looks to be a tough one with some really great matches. As long as we can all work towards our same goal of a conference championship then I think we will have a strong season."
The Ashley Ziegle era will officially open when West Virginia Wesleyan travels to Winston-Salem, N. C. Sept. 4-5 for the Winston-Salem College Invitational, where they will face Chowan in a Friday evening match before taking on Fayetteville State and host Winston-Salem on Saturday.
Local fans will get to see the team on Tuesday, Sept. 8 when they open the home portion of their season against Point Park (Pa.) at 7 p.m.
The Lady Bobcats will then compete in the Greensboro College Invitational on Sept. 12 and 13. On Saturday, they will face Swarthmore and Emory & Henry and then on Sunday they will battle host Greensboro and Oglethorpe.
The rest of the Lady Bobcats' non-conference schedule includes a home-and-home with Salem International, a home match with Davis & Elkins and road trips to Ohio Valley and Point Park.
Wesleyan will begin Mountain East Conference action Friday, Sept. 25 when they travel to Fairmont State for a 7 p.m. contest.
Defending MEC Champion and perennial powerhouse Wheeling Jesuit will visit Wesleyan on Oct. 17 at 10 a.m. on homecoming weekend.
Last season, the Lady Bobcats finished in a fourth-place tie in the MEC with a 9-7 conference record while going 11-13 overall.
They advanced to the MEC semi-finals before falling to eventual champion Wheeling Jesuit.
