Volleyball 'Cats Win Two at Greensboro Invitational

GREENSBORO (N.C.) – Following a 0-5 start to the season, the West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team is on a roll after picking up two more wins today in the Greensboro College Invitational Sunday.

Wesleyan picked up 3-1 victories over both host Greensboro and Oglethorpe today.

That upped their winning streak to three games.

For her efforts in the four-game, two-day Invitational, junior outside hitter Stacie Baumann (pictured) was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Baumann had 10 kills and two digs against Greensboro and 15 kills and five digs against Oglethorpe.

Wesleyan narrowly lost the first set against Greensboro, 28-26, before rebounding to take the next three – 25-23, 25-14 and 25-21.

Shannon Gregorek led the team in kills with 14.

Katlyn Buckland paced the team in assists with 21 while Katlyn Hoge had 15 digs.

Against Oglethorpe, Wesleyan won the first two sets, 25-11 and 25-21, before dropping the third set, 25-22.

Wesleyan claimed the fourth set, 25-19.

Hannah Moore was credited for 17 kills while Paulina Nottingham had 11 assists and 13 digs.

Wesleyan, 3-5, will return to action this Friday when they host Davis & Elkins in a non-conference clash.

The contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
