BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat team is on a two-game winning streak after dispatching of the Ohio Valley Fighting Scots tonight in a non-conference clash at Rockefeller Center.
The Lady Bobcats won in four sets – 25-15, 25-17, 25-27 and 25-18.
The win lifts Ashley Ziegle and her Lady Bobcats to 3-9 overall as they begin Mountain East Conference play this Friday.
"It was nice to finally win one at home before we head into conference play," Ziegle remarked.
Wesleyan never trailed in the first set as they won it going away.
Ahead by a 12-10 score in the second set, Wesleyan outscored Ohio Valley by a 13-7 margin the rest of the way for their 25-17 win.
Wesleyan wasn't able to close out Ohio Valley in straight sets. The Lady Bobcats were up 25-24, but Ohio Valley scored the final three points for the 27-25 win.
Wesleyan fell behind by a 10-8 score in the fourth set, but dominated from that point onward as they outscored Ohio Valley by a 17-8 margin for the win.
Paulina Nottingham had 45 assists and two service aces.
Kirsty Lawrence had 28 digs while Baumann had 20.
Ohio Valley dropped to 4-10 with loss.
Wesleyan will host Fairmont State this Friday at 7 p.m.
